Creation Caretakers Team

To evaluate the programs, activities, and facilities of our church to make sure that all we do at WEPC enhances God’s creation.
To create new creation friendly projects that would enhance our portion of God’s creation.
To design educational opportunities for our church members and the community that would allow them to take home lessons we learn about caring for creation and put them to use in their homes, our community, and the world.

Mission Team

In March 2009, a mission team from our congregation traveled to the Gulf Coast where they hung drywall, painted, replaced a ceiling, and redid a bathroom in several homes in Gulfport, Mississippi.  This is the third team that members of WEPC have sent to Gulfport for Hurricane Katrina recovery work.  This work was in coordination with the national response of PDA (Presbyterian Disaster Assistance).

In July 2008, twenty of our youth and advisors ventured to Washington, DC where they worked in urban missions, primarily with the homeless population.

This summer, seventeen of our youth and adults will travel to Chetumal, Mexico to work with our sister congregation.  This will be our eighth trip to Chetumal since forming this partnership.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

The Prayer Shawl Ministry meets the second Wednesday of the month at 1:00 p.m. in the Church Parlor.

We knit, discuss concerns and make discussions on recipients of the Prayer Shawls. We pray for our concerns and end with a formal blessing of completed shawls.

Anyone is welcome who is interested in this Ministry.

Partner Organizations

West End Presbyterian Church has partnered with the following organizations:

Family Promise of Moore County

As a host congregation, we open the doors of our church facilities four to five times per year, to homeless families. Members of our church provide breakfast, lunch, and dinner as well as transportation to and from the Day Center. Congregation volunteers stay with the families through their time at the facility to provide support and ensure that their stay proceeds smoothly.

Sandhills/Moore Coalition for Human Care

We support the Coalition’s efforts to meet the emergency needs of Moore County neighbors by providing food, clothing and financial resources and to collaborate with appropriate agencies for clients with on-going needs.  WEPC also collects rice on a weekly basis for the Coalition’s food pantry.  The youth group has also helped with raking and cleaning the grounds, and planting a flower bed at the resale shop’s entrance.

Backpack Pals

Our “Down Under” Sunday School class provides an assigned food item for Backpack Pals each year.  This program, run by Moore County Schools, provides hundreds of kids with a backpack full of food to get them through each weekend.

West End Presbyterian Church also supports the following organizations:

Habitat for Humanity of the NC Sandhills

This non-profit organization builds homes with low-income families in need in Moore and Richmond counties.

Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina

Last year, the Sandhills branch (Moore, Scotland, and Richmond Counties) distributed over 3.17 million pounds of food.

MANNA!

MANNA! is an ecumenical and community effort to feed the hungry of Moore County effectively and efficiently by providing prepared meals that are taken to dining sites in areas of need.

Village-to-Village

Village-to-Village is a charity supporting positive and sustainable livelihoods in East Africa.
