| SUNDAY
SCHOOL
The
Christian Education Ministry Team invites you to join
us on September 12th as we kick of this year’s
Sunday school program. We will gather in the Crawford
Center at 10am for coffee, juice, and breakfast treats..
Children’s
Ministries:
Nursery
(Newborn through 4 years old)
Loving
volunteers provide care and compassion for our youngest
members during Sunday school and worship each week,
including the summer months, as well as during special
services.
Children
in kindergarten through second grade are invited to
come to the nursery during the worship service, following
“A Time for the Child in Us All.” However,
all of God’s children are welcome to stay in
the sanctuary for the entire service.
Wee
Believe (ages 3-5)
Wee Believe
is a class for our three to five year olds, designed
especially for them. Your child will have the opportunity
to hear age-appropriate Bible Stories and be loved
and nurtured in their faith. Wee Believe gathers on
Sunday mornings from 10:00-10:45
Workshop
Rotation (Grades K-5)
Children in grades K-5 will have the Bible come to
life at WEPC’s workshop rotation. Each week,
the children will experience the Bible through a different
workshop, including Art, Cooking, Storytelling, Games,
and many more. Bible stories this fall include the
Creation story and the Christmas narrative. Children
will gather in the Art Room each Sunday morning at
10:00, and will travel to that week’s workshop.
WEPC
on Wednesdays (Grades K-5)
This
afterschool program for the entire community, fondly
called “WOW!”, meets every Wednesday that
class is in session from 3-5PM, beginning in September
through June 19. Children will have the opportunity
to be a part of a youth choir, share in weekly devotionals,
play lots of fun games, have free play, eat great
snacks, and participate in a variety of Arts. Transportation
provided from West End Elementary School. Register
by calling the church office at 673-4341.
Vacation
Bible School (3 years old through fifth grade)
Each
summer, children from the community gather for a week
of fun and laughter and growing in God’s Word.
Children engage in several stories of the Bible through
crafts, music, recreation, storytelling, and snacks.
More details about V.B.S 2011 will be coming soon.
Youth Ministries (grades 6-12):
P.Y.C.
(Presbyterian Youth Connection)
Our
youth group meets each Sunday evening from 6-8PM for
dinner, games and fellowship, faith conversations,
and time to just hang out. Occasionally, we’ll
break from our regular schedule for fellowship events,
weekend retreats, and mission experiences.
Adult
Ministries:
Down
Under Class (meets in lower fellowship
hall)
The
"Down-Under" class meets in the basement
where the old fellowship hall is located. We
started as the Young Adult class and progressed to
the class known as parents with young children.
Now a few of us have school-age children and many
of us are empty nesters (until our college students
and/or adult children return home!). Our class
welcomes all, particularly those with open hearts
and open minds. We study topics that relate
to the 21st century. It can be current events,
popular books or a Bible driven topic. As someone
in our class said "it's a time of fellowship
interrupted by Christian studies." Please
feel free to join us and express yourself.
The
Present Word (meets in church library)
The
Arrowood class is made up primarily of senior
citizens who are well-versed in Bible knowledge and
who enjoy continuing, in-depth Bible studies and applications
to current life. Lessons are based on The Present
Word and follow the International Uniform Series;
in a five-year cycle which surveys the entire
Bible.
Coffee
and Conversations (meets in Crawford
Center)
This
new Sunday school class is open to all, but designed
with the under-50 crowd in mind. We explore ways to
recognize and appreciate God’s presence in our
every day lives. Along the way, we will watch movie
clips, listen to music, and use other forms of media
together. Plus, there will be plenty of coffee to
help start the morning!
Adult
Academy of Religious Studies (meets in
the Crawford Center)
The
Adult Academy was founded in 2003 by the Reverend
Don Welch at West End Presbyterian Church as a community
outreach program for the theologically and intellectually
curious disciple. The Academy provides three to four
programs each year that are diverse in nature and
require discussion, study, and reflection by
the participant. In 2008 the Adult Academy was
also embraced and is now co-sponsored by the Chapel
in the Pines. The Academy's programs are open
to all people of faith, seekers of faith, or of no
faith in the West End/Seven Lakes community.
