Friends,
this will be the last weekly “WEPC Youth News”
email for the school year. Of course, we’ll
be sending out periodic emails as we get closer to our
summer events. Below, you’ll find several
announcements in regards to upcoming events. I
hope you’ll find these helpful and please let
me know if you have any questions at all. On a
side note, we continue to look for adults to accompany
us to Carowinds (June 16th) and Montreat Youth Conference

Senior
Sunday (Breakfast & Footprints) – Sunday,
May 23rd
Help
us celebrate our graduating seniors this Sunday, May
23rd. All youth (and recent graduates!) are invited
to join us for the Senior Breakfast from 10:00-10:45
in the Crawford Center. In worship, we’ll
recognize our graduates. Following worship, grab
some ice cream from under the oaks (it’s the homemade
type straight from Ben’s Ice Cream) and join us
in the Hogan House as our seniors leave their “footprints”.
Breakfast
Bunch – Tuesday, May 25th
This
will be our last “Breakfast Bunch” of the
year. You can either meet Chip in the church parking
lot by 6:45, or meet us at Chick-fil-a at 7:15.
We’ll make sure you get a ride to school. There
will not be a Breakfast Bunch on May 18th, as I will
be out of town this week. (Sorry!)
Carowinds – Wednesday, June 16th
Our Carowinds trip is
open to all those who are currently in the 5th –
12th grades. (Again, we still need a few adults
and possibly a driver or two.) Please call Lynne
in the church office (673-4341) by Friday, June
11th if you plan on going. Details are still being
worked out, but it looks like we’ll leave around
9:30 am, stopping for lunch in Charlotte. We’ll
stay at the park through dinner, returning to West End
around 10pm that evening. It’s a long day,
but packed full of fun. Tickets will be $34, and
you’ll need money
for a fast food lunch (or you can bring a bag lunch)
and Carowinds dinner.
S.W.A.P. Mission Trip – July 12th-17th
Our S.W.A.P plans are
now on their way, with one orientation session completed.
Balances for this trip and forms are now due (total
cost is $225). Our second orientation session
will be Sunday, June 27th from 12:30-2:00PM.
Montreat Youth Conference – July
25th-31st
We have one more “spot”
for this year’s Montreat Youth Conference.
Balances for this trip are now due. The Montreat
prep night will be Wednesday, July 21st from 6-7pm.
All participants are expected to be in worship on Sunday,
July 25th at 10am.
Wild and Wacky Wednesdays – all
summer long
Wild and Wacky Wednesdays
is open for those currently in Pre-K through the eighth
grade. We’ll have a wide range of activities,
from the water park in Greensboro to the North Carolina
Zoo to a visit to KaLaWi farms and Ben’s Ice Cream.
