NEW
WORSHIP HOUR This morning we have returned
to our regular worship morning hour of 11 a.m., which
will be the case until June 2011. We welcome our chancel
choir back this morning as well. We pay a special thank
you to the many of you who contributed to the summer
"special music" this summer.
CENTENNIAL
CELEBRATION West End Presbyterian Church will
be celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2012. We are
putting together a Centennial Ministry Team to begin
planning for this huge celebration. A number of good
volunteers already have signed up. Our first meeting
is coming up soon. We are interested in a variety of
people serving - old timers, newcomers, those who like
to plan events, those with an interest in history, those
who can write, those who have a deep love for all things
West End Presbyterian, etc., etc. If you think this
is one way you could serve, please contact either Larry
Lyon, Chip Pope, or Lynne Maroun in the church office.
CHOIRS
RESUME Our choirs have resumed their normal
Wednesday evening rehearsal hours and absolutely welcome
new people. Our handbell players rehearse at 6:30 PM
Wednesday in our sanctuary, and our choir rehearses
at 7:30 p.m. in the choir room If you are interested
in joining, please speak to our new music director,
Jennifer Thomas Danis, or just show up on Wednesday
evening!
HEALING
AND WHOLENESS We will hold a healing and wholeness
worship service on Wednesday night, Sept. 29, in our
sanctuary. Our choir will sing. The service includes
prayer, scripture readings and an opportunity for those
desiring to have a pastor say a prayer for a particular
intercession, and to receive the anointing of oil. Our
Reformed tradition emphasizes our need for the grace
and mercy of God, and this worship service is in keeping
with our recognition of that.
AFTER
SCHOOL PROGRAM BEGINS W.O.W. (Wednesdays at
WEPC) is up and running, but there's always room for
more. This ministry is for children in grades K-5 and
meets every Wednesday from 3-5 PM when Moore County
Schools (traditional schedule) are in session. Each
week, WOW participants experience the Bible through
great tasting snacks, fun and active games, crafts that
help us serve others, and exiting musical opportunities.
Registration forms are available in the church office.
For more information, contact Jennifer Thomas Danis.
